Travel During Pregnancy
“Yes. It’s positive and Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Karthik” The doctor said as she scanned the report.
My eyes wide open with excitement, but gradually it faded when the doctor said “And Mrs. Karthik Strictly, No travel for the next 3 months”
“What. No Travel…But… doctor, I have a lot of trips planned in the upcoming days,” I said with a bewildered look.
“Please re-plan. Long travels are not encouraged for the next 3 months”
“But I don’t have any complications” I sighed.
“I agree. Even if you are in perfect health, we don’t recommend anyone during the first trimester,” the doctor continued with a smile, “It’s better to be safe than sorry”

Though disappointing, the joy of new arrival flashed and was delighted.
Back at home, I was pampered with a lot of love, support and care. My husband cooked delicious dishes, did all house chores and never let me go out unnecessarily. He wanted me to rest completely. But for a sportive and hyper enthusiastic person, those pampering felt irritated and vulnerable.
Soon the reality hit me. Morning sickness, mood swings, nausea and tiredness overtook my enthusiasm and all my trip plans got canceled and I preferred staying at home.
If you are a travel freak like me, one could relate it. Even if not a travel person, the below travel tips could make the pregnancy journey lively.
Travel does not mean that it must be to another country or a new place. With the available and limited resources, we can keep ourselves rejuvenated during pregnancy days.
Plan to visit a nearby park in the morning or evening and amble. If extremely tried, just sit and observe the trees and kids playing around. If possible, request hubby to join at least twice in a week or whenever possible.
Even if you are an atheist, try visiting nearby temples to get positive vibrations. The baby inside the womb gets benefits since the 5 senses are activated.
Sit calmly, listen to the chanting (Hear), observe God’s idols (Sight), the decorations (Sight), Hear the temple bells, smell the garland, walk with barefoot, touch the idols foot for blessing to get the touch sense activated. Of course, the prasadam will be a treat for your taste buds
Attend a Pregnancy class:
Joining a pregnancy class has helped in keeping me active throughout and getting knowledge on what to do during the pregnancy period and expect in labor. So, join a pregnancy class and meet lot of mommies-to-be.
Lot of events will happen in the weekend like cake decoration classes, Cooking & Baking workshops, so on. Look out for the events in the city and enroll them to have a learning weekend, which will benefit the kids as well
Best time to plan:
Utilize this time to plan the future trips. During this period, I read travel blogs, vlogs and explored a lot about new places and prepared a bucket list that I would be travelling with my kid and hubby. This also made me to plan my finance budget as well.
What’s more beautiful than our home? I always decorated my house differently when I get time with lot of my drawings, craft items and invited my well-wishers to have a quality time.
Pregnancy days are the most beautiful days and those 9-month journey cannot be replaced even if a dream place is visited.
So, Mommies-to-be, enjoy those beautiful Journey in whatever way possible and always be happy and smiling.
